I have a blinking ';low oil'; level indicator going off when i press on the brakes..??? just happened today btw.?

i checked the oil levels and they are fine...i also noticed that my parking light went out this morning too, are these two related? like a short or sensor went out?I have a blinking ';low oil'; level indicator going off when i press on the brakes..??? just happened today btw.?
Make sure that your power brake booster did not blow it's diaphragm. Also, be sure to use the correct TYPE of oil in your car, whatever it is. The oil pressure relief valve in many cars get stuck from bad oil (sludge) good Luck!!!I have a blinking ';low oil'; level indicator going off when i press on the brakes..??? just happened today btw.?
Youre rite! there is a short in your system causing the false lite blinking. Unfortunately, a auto electrical shop is the only way to find the problem.

My coolant light came on today although, I had an oil change Monday. I checked and the tank was bone dry!?

The car is an 88 Olds Ciera. I just got it, handmedown style from a relative. The coolant tank was completely full on Monday, there is no leaked coolant on my drive way. (At the time of my oil change the radiator was at the correct fluid level). Any suggestions!? Help!My coolant light came on today although, I had an oil change Monday. I checked and the tank was bone dry!?
yes if the cap was off it could lose all the fluid in the tank.My coolant light came on today although, I had an oil change Monday. I checked and the tank was bone dry!?
What is your question?

Is the quicky lube place responsible? YES if you can prove the touched it.

Can you some how sue them? YES if you prove they caused it.

What can you do? If you are NOT mechanically inclined go see a mechanic and find the leak and fix it.

===

Coolant is mostly water and dries up. Even if it leaked a little bit (after leaking most of it from driving), you won't see it on your drive way.

Good Luck...
you should go back to those guys who serviced your car and tell them what happen, cause if in the case of that missing cap, that could it be that cause along with a termostat, now if they didn't put that cap back than they have to fix that, but if you know the cap wasn't there before and they din't told u anything is on them make them pay.yes
pop the rad cap and see how empty it is (don't do it when the engine is hot. you'll burn from steam). If its not too empty just top it up with water (obviously you'll have to put antifreeze in come winter though). But don't run it dry! not even to the shop, fill it with water.
Yeah, you should always check yourself after being serviced. I found a screw driver in my engine, a dip stick in my engine, and was completely empty of oil, all on separate occasions. Some of these mechanics are all drugged up.
that cap missing should not allow the water/ coolant to evaporate that quickly, you might have the radiator cap tested. if that does not hold pressure the coolant can evaporate faster.
If the overflow tank was full and now it is empty you may have a leak. What engine does the Ciera have? The coolant system only works correctly if it is sealed and pressurizes. The cooling fans will cycle on at approximately 226 - 232 degrees (F). The system must pressurize to about 16 PSI. The pressure raises the boiling point of the coolant. If the radiator cap is defective or there is a leak that will not allow the system to pressurize the coolant will boil before the fan cycles on. The coolant will expand and boil into the coolant reservoir (plastic tank). If the radiator cap, hoses and the rest of the system have no leaks the coolant cools, contracts and creates a suction that draws the coolant back into the radiator from the tank. Any of the engines can have internal leaks at the head gaskets or intake manifold that will destroy the integrity of the cooling system and cause it to loose coolant. The cooling fans can fail. Testing requires a pressure tester and a scantool to observe the computer data such as coolant temp, fan commands, etc. a good scan tool can activate the fan circuits for testing.

The 2.8L , 3.1L and 3.4L V6 's are known for intake manifold gasket failure that allows coolant to leak. Don't let the engine overheat. The 2.5L 4 cyl. and the 3.0, 3.3 and 3.8L don't have as many problems with intake gaskets.

Also check under the front carpet on the passenger side for coolant on the floor, this could indicate a leaking heater core.

If JL didn't drain the coolant surge tank then they wouldn't be responsible for it going empty. If they checked it and topped it off they provided a service. They would have no way of knowing the system has a leak unless they tested it. They don't usually do testing. My knowledge of Jiffy's operation is that they specialize in maintenace service and not repair. In other words they change the oil and filters possibly fluid exchanges if authorized. Diagnosis and repairs are more technical and cause more liability, they tend to play safe and stick with simple stuff.

Take it to a professional shop, one that has a clean waiting room, plenty of business with later model vehicles being serviced. good luck.

The little plastic cap on the reservoir tank is not pressurized This usually would not cause the coolant to disappear

The Calais Quad 4 had a pressurized surge tank , no cap on the radiator.

  • Who thinks it was the price of oil that raise gas prices by more than 40 cents a gallon today?

i say we boycott gass on saturday and sunday, two days of no sales for a couple of weekends might hit them where it hurts.Who thinks it was the price of oil that raise gas prices by more than 40 cents a gallon today?
40 cents...today? What are you talking about?Who thinks it was the price of oil that raise gas prices by more than 40 cents a gallon today?
Oil went above $73 a barrel today, but 40 cents a gallon is not equal to that. Especially when the gas in the tanks have already been paid for. Oil company's are organized crime. The only way not buying gas on certain days of the week will help is if you stop driving at the same time. If you use a gallon of gas on Sat. but do not buy until Monday they still get the money.
I GO BOATING ON THE WEEKENDS, I CAN'T BOYCOTT THEN.
I would pay five bucks a gallon if Bush would tell the entire middle east to F-U-C-K OFF and that asshole idiot in South America.
Dammit!!! ****!! ****!! I knew I should have filled up yesterday..
    The problem is that in the spring into summer months oil refineries boost production from 80% to 90% but this year they decided to stay with 80% because profits are expected to lower from less driving so production low prices up and once again the people take the hit and the large corporations keep the profits up. I think it is time to turn these billionaires into millionaires and stop ';We the People'; turning into ';We the corporation';
My gas actually went down in price today by 12 cents. And I only drive to work and back so I can't boycott.
Gas prices wont go down check out this product-http://www.GasClubUSA.net/go/jeffmatt23/

Front page news in Australia today is that we are in iraq for oil?

    http://www.news.com.au/0,,nsw,00.html

this is odd as news.com.au [daily telegraph] is our highly conservative newspaper.

    smh.com.au is our liberal paper.

is this being declared in the US as well?Front page news in Australia today is that we are in iraq for oil?
It's always been discussed ever since WMDs didn't turn up in troves, and since the terrorists of 9/11 were not Iraqi.Front page news in Australia today is that we are in iraq for oil?
    I never doubted it.
people are waking up and smelling coffee. we are also there because we wanted new bases in the mid east, we were not welcome in saudi arabia anymore we also had lost control of saddam and they wanted a new puppet government
Well, that shouldn't be surprising for anyone with a brain.

That's the only reason Bushie and the boys invaded that country - control of the oilfields...that's what it's all about.

Many in my country don't have the education or the knowledge - nor the interest in getting the FACTS by reading, listening and researching.... They just blabber along totally clueless.
Yeah, it was known a long time ago because the terrorists in 911 were all from Saudi Arabia. Iraq had nothing to do with it other than being the scape goat and Bush loves oil.
Lol, yea they said the same thing in Desert Storm, never did see all the oil they were talking about. The simplicity of people's minds is truly dangerous.
thats a misleading article. The title misleads you as to what its about.
Ok who ratted on us? Scooter?

I am 39 weeks and i took castor oil on fri and nothing happean.. should i take agan today to see if something?

should i try agan??I am 39 weeks and i took castor oil on fri and nothing happean.. should i take agan today to see if something?
NO CASTER OIL IS DANGEROUS just Wait the baby will come when readyI am 39 weeks and i took castor oil on fri and nothing happean.. should i take agan today to see if something?
Don't do it. Castor oil is an old wives tale, it will only give you soft stools/crippling diarrhea, and will most likely not throw you into labor unless your body is already ready to go.
Try takin exlax. Not only will it get your bowls moving, it'll get that baby moving. FYI...you might poop yourself while giving birth, but hey itsn't that what the nurse is for.
yes. try 3 tablespoons of it this time! it worked for me 12 hours later.
Try drinking red raspberry leaf tea. It's an herbal tea. Some say its supposed to help those early contractions get stronger. I drank that tea many glasses every day and inserted capsules of primrose oil each night after 36 weeks. I went into labor at 38 weeks. Both are herbal not meant to cause labor but could help. Good luck and congratulations!
I dont understand why people always try to rush there baby out. He/she will come when they are ready.
WHY are you taking castor oil? First off, IF you needed to be induced your healthcare provider would tell you. Otherwise, you should let nature run it's course. The baby will come when it's his/her time to come.

Also, the actual length of a pregnancy is 42 weeks.

So, if this is a serious question... STOP. Don't be trying to force yourself to go into labor. It could cause serious implications. For you and the child.

Today Obama said he would force Big Oil to pay tax to the working people is that Change or Totalitarianism ???

I was a bit suprised last Friday when he said he would heal the Earth.

Now he is going to force US Corporations to pay a higher rate of tax and give that money to the working families.

Did someone say French Reveloution ... Off with Exxon's Head.Today Obama said he would force Big Oil to pay tax to the working people is that Change or Totalitarianism ???
    To answer your question;

Like Hugo Chavez, Barack Obama sounds more like a socialist ever day and pushes Nationalism as a means to solve all problems. He would be wrong.Today Obama said he would force Big Oil to pay tax to the working people is that Change or Totalitarianism ???
If Obama knows anything about taxing U.S. corporations he knows its futile as they will simply increase their prices to cover it, and if they can't cover it then more imports will come in and unemployment will skyrocket
It's called a recycle of proven failed economic policies. Marxism has never worked, period.
What he was saying is that ordinary americans need a gas relief and that oil companies are part of the problem.
well, totalitarianism is a change from democracy
Speaking gibberish. At least McCain has his age and health as an excuse when he says something stupid.
    No, THAT ain't gonna happen.........period!!
Don't worry Serf, you'll always have a lord.

Oil shoots up over $11/barrel today? We just had 2 oil men in office for 2 terms & Congress/dems fought them?

every step of the way to drill in this country. Shale, Alaska, etc. has trillions of barrels of untapped reserves!! Now what?? It gets to $150/barrel?? It's very near a crisis but too little too late!Oil shoots up over $11/barrel today? We just had 2 oil men in office for 2 terms %26amp; Congress/dems fought them?
Bill Clinton, the God of the leftist signed a bill against domestic drilling during his term in office.

Also, the leftist for 35 years have been fighting nuclear plants.

We have not built a refinery here in 30 years, yup, you guest it... the leftist.

They keep yelling ';alternative energy'; but none of these so called majority of left wing scientist can seem to, in over 40 years, come up with an alternative... Why?

Its easy for them to rant and rave and blame the Bush Administration when they refuse to look in the mirror and see who are the major contributors to the fuel ';crisis';.

Hey, Pelosi lead Congress, you have been the majority, why have you not kept your promises you made to the people when you were running for office?

Cause it was all lies, that's why.Oil shoots up over $11/barrel today? We just had 2 oil men in office for 2 terms %26amp; Congress/dems fought them?
We don;t have to goto Alaska, there is enough oil on the mainland to curb demand!!! If we industirlaized oil and allowed only Oil in the US to be sold. No export/import on any oil. Gas would be very cheap. We are conservatives on the environment who rely on Arabs to mess up there environment (for hefty price of course) to provide us with over priced oil that make royal Arabs rich!
They can drill all they want in America. They just have to adhere to environmental laws. Stop spreading that lie. Why would Big Oil risk capitol drilling when they can just import? They make more profit with imported oil and no risk. Why would they build new refineries and lower the price of gas along with their profits. Open your eyes BushBot.
don't worry once the Economy takes a crap (soon) oil will come down some.

you act as if we don't pump any oil here ? there are plenty of wells that are pumping oil out in the USA.

and that oil then goes on the GLOBAL MARKET

and is sold to the highest freaking bidder.

you people fail to remember when a barrel of oil was 10 bucks and many wells in the USA turned there pumps off. because oil was not selling enough for them to make a big profit.
Dems answer to a different crowd.
Al Gore has perpetrated the perfect lie to make millions, hasn't he?
yah, I'd like to know where you saw it was only $11 a barrel!!!

    Try $140 a barrel.
First of all, it was a GOP Congress for 6 years--and you cons made a big deal out of saying the Democrats had no say in policy. So fine--it was all your doing--that's what you said.

Second, we do not have an oil shortage. We have a shortage of refinery capacity. Despite the fact tha tthe Bush administration--AND Congres (both parties) have given the oil companies exemption from environmental rules and subsides to build more refineries.

The oil companies have refused. They have not built a single new refinery in over 15 years. They have, however, bought and closed many independent refineries.

Now---here's a little bit of real world facts for you: iit DOES NOT matter how much oil you have--if you don't have enough refinery capacity you will not have enough gas.

This has resulted--and the oil companies intended--in a shortage--and they have tripled the price of gasoline. With the full cooperation of your little tin god Bush.

But don't worry--its a short-term situation. With modern technology tha tis now beginning to come online, we do not need more oil in any case. Oil--and coal--are esssentially obsolete. New enrgy socurces are cheaper and cleaner--and investing in them will create new industries, new jobs--and in the long run lower prices for consumers.

But forget trying to lay this on the Democrats. The cons wanted to run the show? Well--you got to for years. With power comes responsibility--and no one is going to let you avoid taking responsibility for your actions.
To show you how out of touch Congress is with the people we have the Warner/Lieberman bill that will instantly increase the price of all energy, as if you weren't paying enough already.

The Democrats continually refuse to allow new refineries, drill for new oil here, Coal to Liquid technology, Gas to Liquid technology, open new Nuclear operations (cleanest source of energy) or even pick a bio fuel that is viable and that everybody can live with and make it a priority... Environmentalists have run amok in this country (not just Democrats).

Ethanol is a disaster of epic proportions and yet that is our only real alternative at this moment and it does not even come close to meeting the needs of this country AND never will, its insufficient plus it puts at risk our food source. Reliable, affordable electric cars or hydrogen cars are generations into our future for the general masses but yet the environmentalists continue to fight tooth and nail to ensure that energy prices are as high as possible, not to mention food prices with the onslaught of Ethanol production.
$11? Maybe a few decades ago.

Mining for shale won't do jack for oil prices, sorry. Extracting and processing it consumes lots of energy and money, it's not worth it.

    Ok my bad for misunderstanding.

Still mining for shale is far less efficient than pumping sweet light crude straight out of the ground. and that's a FACT, you can take your condescending ';better check your facts'; tone and put it someplace that's not nice.

Also, It's obvious that you think climate change is a total hoax, but what if it's not? What if the 2,000 scientists of the IPCC who agree that climate change is real and is at least being hastened by human activity is not a global conspiracy?

If we invest in all that new technology now then we will be committing ourselves to using it indefinitely, at least until it's all gone. Then 50 to 100 years from now we'll discover it's too late and we still won't have a clean renewable energy supply in place. Since we are at a point where we have to invest in new energy sources, it'd by dubiously short sighted and naive not to take the safest route possible.
