and the mechanic told me that I had a nail %26amp; a plug in my left rear tire. He pulled my car up and showed me. I am so sad. And he said that he couldn't fix the nail because my tire already had a plug in it. So I have to purchase a brand new one. I have Bridgestone Potenza tires and they're $165 a piece. :/ Is there any other good tires that are a little less expensive?I went to go change my oil today...?
You added a quote about ';never blug a sidewall'; yet you imply that the existing plug is, in fact, already in the sidewall. If that is the case, then what is the problem plugging the hole which is (presumably) not in the sidewall? Just plug the doggone thing and don't go buying any new tires. If my interpretation of your scenario is wrong, forgive me...
As for cheaper tires, this is better asked of Consumer Reports. Potenzas are highly rated by CR, so you may want to stick with Potenzas. Are you going to replace 2? Then get whatever floats your boat. But if you are only replacing one, I would think you'd want them to match.I went to go change my oil today...?
Unless the nail is right next to the plug, or very close to the sidewall, I don't see any reason why it can't be fixed. If the tire still has good tread, go and get a second opinion.
Walmart has good prices on tires and the installation shouldn't cost you much.
I've had tires plugged more than once with no ill effects. I would get a second opinion on that before I laid out money for a new tire.
I think Toyo tires make a good tire, and I'm sure they are less expensive than what you paid.
