Today I make 40 wks should I drink some castor oil to induce labor now?

Research say if I was to drink it then 2-6 hours after drinking itToday I make 40 wks should I drink some castor oil to induce labor now?
Why do you need to induce your labor? You already made it this far, your baby will be here any day now. Just relax and catch up on sleep.

I promise you labor will be no fun if you are glued to the toilet for the first few hours of it. You will be exhausted and not in a good mood by the time the baby comes.Today I make 40 wks should I drink some castor oil to induce labor now?
No. Your at 40 weeks, you are almost done, that baby is due any minute now (really). I know your tired of being pregnant, and so anxious to meet your baby, but think of what is best for you and the baby. Which means you should not be taking castor oil. It is dangerous for you and baby. If you drink it, you can get diarrhea, vommitting, severe abdominal pain (thats what women mistake as contractions) and you can get severely dehydrated which can harm you and the baby. It can also cause baby to have a bowel movement in the womb and if baby swallows it, it can be very harmful and even fatal. Just take this time and rest. Why be in such a rush? Your only pregnant for 9 months, you will have this child with you for 18+ years.
Where did you do your research?

The effects of using castor oil to induce labor are at best mixed. According to the website below, it works by triggering cramps in your bowels, and basically giving you the runs. The cramps can start contractions, but they can be irregular and painful, and stressful to you and the fetus. It can also cause vomiting. You'll have enough going on with delivering a baby - you don't want to be retching through all of it, too.

The 2nd link below gives some info on inducing labor.

So hang in there - little Thumper will make his/her appearance when he's ready.
NOOO!!!! dont do it. what it does is makes your bowels contract...and that SOMETIMES can lead to your uterus contracting. but only sometimes. ask your doctor to strip your membranes, it hurts for like a minute. but its better than sitting on the toilet for 2 hours. also some nurses told me when it does work mothers normally poo on themselves during delivery. somewoman do this anyway, but not all. but they say its more likely for you to if you drink caster oil, and thats only if the caster oil does work. i had my membranes stripped at 38 weeks and went into labor 20 min later
personally i have been having contractions for 4 days now. im so tired and wore out from the on and off pain, but i would never take castor oil. i hate having the runs more then i hate labor pain lol.
NO! This is a totally stupid idea...think about it please...you start labor by dehydrating yourself? And if you get diarrhea, what do you think your baby will get? Believe me, I know what it is like to be ';over due';...my first went 41 weeks, my second went 42 weeks and 5 days. Babies come when they are ready, and if you try to get them to come before their time you could jeopardize their health. Give your child a little more time in the womb, it really is worth the wait.
hi hun! It's really best to wait until the baby is ready to come, unless you doctor has a medical reason to have you be induced. I don't know how much you know about castor oil, but its not yummy and it doesn't do exciting things to you. I guess if you like having diarrhea ALL day then go for it! lol :o) No, honestly I have heard it CAN work, but what if it doesn't, do you want to go through that for nothing? Good luck!
Don't do it, it's not nice, you'll end up stuck on the loo and in pain and it won't even bring on labour unless your body and baby are ready, and if you haven't gone in to labour naturally yet that means they're not. Honestly your baby will arrive when they're ready and really do treasure these last few hours/days of being pregnant.
It's an old wives tale, it's like sex, walking etc, it might work, but it might not. There are also a lot of risks involved, i think the risks outweigh the benefit, i say benefit because the only good outcome would be to go into labour.

You'll dehydrate yourself.

You'll have diarreha.

It'll make you sick.

Your baby can do a bowel movement in the uterus, which is dangerous!
i was due yesterday... yesterday i walked 5.25 miles and tried the sex thing... NOTHING WORKED! I'm not even gonna bother with castor oil. Try walking! I'm going walking agin today because I want this baby out! The walking actually started some short mild contractions, i just took long breaks throughout the day. So try walking non-stop!

Good luck =D

CONGRATS
Don't do that. My doctor said having sex may induce labor.

If you've had enough - ask your doctor to induce you.
I think natural labor is the best way to do it. What I don't understand is if your at 40 weeks why have they not induced you yet?
