I use them all the time. It's been my experience that Jiffy Lube is a reasonable, reliable place to get my engine oil changed, and it seems like they are on nearly every street corner when I travel.
Yes, they do recommend a new air filter or other items occasionally, but no more than others I've dealt with, and I have never experienced an overly-aggressive sales pitchWhat is your honest opinion of ';Jiffy Lube';? I plan on going for an oil change after work today.?
Overpriced. I go to my dealer for that stuff and pay about $20. My husband took the care to Jiffy Lube and it was over $60. Yes, they try to tell you that you need crap you don't need. Most of the time, they don't have much training and don't know what they are talking about.
Yes, that is how they make money... upsell. They tend to recommend the same exact services each time you come in, may or may not be what your vehicle actually needs.
I think their idea is that every vehicle needs new air filter, wiper blades, etc each time you change the oil. They recommend getting an engine flush if you drove 100 miles over your last oil change.
Depending on your size and personality, you may or may not have all these things suggested to you with your oil change lol.
Other than that, they are ok. I wouldn't use them for anything other than a quick oil change if you are in a hurry. Otherwise it's best to find a regular shop that will look over your vehicle and make real recommendations based on the condition of the vehicle. You hardly ever hear stories of people leaving their regular mechanic after an oil change and blowing up the engine because there was no oil in there. But it happens daily at the quick lube shops.... but it is fast!
Do it yourself. Trade about 1/2 hour for $20.
i believe they mess up your car. do not go there. i personally saw a worker spinning or trying to spin the tires of a mini van as he was pulling it around to the bay of the shop. they treat the cars like crap. if it was me i would not trust my car there.
My husband worked at one years ago.
Wiping clean air filters on the ground to sell new ones.
Charging for synthetic but really using standard
Not really performing the fuel injection service but charging for it.
Reusing oil filters.
Tearing wiper blades to sell new.
Actually breaking the hood release handle and ';super glueing it back on';
Using universal fluids on type specific vehicles.
Buying walmart filters when they ran low. Corporate J-Lube will not fill a warrenty claim for engine damage on a filter not thier own.
These are just a ';few'; issues. He was talking about them the other day because that specific location was being sued for breach of contract/non-payment on 15,000 gallons of oil.
Makes you wonder what oil thier using now doesnt it..........................
If you cant change it yourself an oil change is really not that bad at a dealer. In the winter months I think he pays the local dodge dealer like 22 bucks.
Good luck.
P.S He was fired when he told a customer the manager just f*cked him by charging for services not performed.
I wouldn't trust any quick lube shop they are basically untrained and low payed employees.
