Crude oil is six times more expensive today, than in 2000, while gasoline only 1.5 times. Why?

well, actually, crude oil is about 2.5 times more expensive and gas is close to 2 times more, so there is not really that big of a difference as you thinkCrude oil is six times more expensive today, than in 2000, while gasoline only 1.5 times. Why?
Ask your republican dad.Crude oil is six times more expensive today, than in 2000, while gasoline only 1.5 times. Why?
Possibly because gasoline is not the same as oil - it takes other ingredients (other additives, capital costs, labor) that have not increased in price by the same amount.
There are multiple reasons as to why crude oil may cost more in pecentage terms than gasoline for oil is used in plastics, lubricants and gasoline is by product of refining process for many other uses oil is refined for.
