Well i took 6 ounces straight down and i have had the (runs) all day and a few contractions here and there but nothing big its been eleven hours and still NOTHING i just wanna know how long i should wait befor i just give up on the hole ideal of it working for if you can help please share your experiencens with if you have ever used this prouduct if you have something negative to say then please just dont answer the question i wouldent like any drama Thank you so much!!!!Help!! I toke castor oil to induce labor at 2 today it is now 1 am how long should i wait befor i give up?
wow there are so many negative comments! Sorry you've had the runs all day. Castor oil can work, it just won't work if your body isn't ready to deliver, which is a good thing because you want to make sure the baby is in the right position to deliver. If Castor oil was so bad for you they wouldn't sell it in the stores, you would have to get a prescription from a doctor and a lot of doctors and nurses wouldn't be recommending it if it would cause harm to your baby so don't worry. My friend took castor oil and she was lucky, she didn't get sick at all and she delivered her baby perfectly healthy the next day. A word of advice, just make sure you are full term and are at least starting to dialate. I don't see anything wrong if you plan on trying again, just make sure you are hydrated the entire time and try not to do it right after you eat because what goes in must come out. There are so many pro's and con's about Castor Oil, but you really need to just go by your own experience. I have gestational diabetis and my baby is bigger than average so I plan on inducing him in a few weeks because I will not be able to carry him to the full 40 weeks and I plan to try the oil first and then if it doesn't work I will be having the doctor induce him. But don't listen to the negativity, theres nothing wrong with you wanting to induce your baby if he is ready to go. Look on google for different recipes to use castor oil with if you plan to try it again, it may just be that you got sick because the oil didn't mix with something you ate or drank. From what I'm told the castor oil is meant to make your intestines go into action which hits your uterine muscles assisting them to go into contractions, but it is completely normal to get the runs. Even woman who don't induce sometimes still go to the bathroom during labor, its normal. and it does happen. I found this link while researching Castor oil, it has tons and tons of stories of women who used it to induce and with some it worked and some it didn't, some it worked with the first pregnancy than the pregnancy after nothing at all. Don't stress on the negativity of comments you get from this post, pregnancy is just one of those things where EVERYONE thinks they are a doctor. People can be so judgemental forgetting that every woman's body is different and no two pregnancies are the same. If you do plan on inducing again good luck to you, hopefully not as much runs next time and good luck to you during your labor! :) The link below helped me with understanding the oil more, hope it helps you!Help!! I toke castor oil to induce labor at 2 today it is now 1 am how long should i wait befor i give up?
how far are you? how many weeks? sometimes it wont work if your body isnt ready....... try walking......... up stairs and around the house.... please make sure you drink alot of fluids you can become dehadrated very quick....... try walikng alot. it might help....... it did when i took it the last two times. and it worked..... good luck
I wonder why people suggest caster oil. I believe that the runs are all that really comes from that. I would suggest doing some squats. Try putting an exercise ball on your back and up against the wall, then roll the ball up your back by squating down. This will help the baby move to the pelvic area. Also, taking walks around your neighborhood. Walking helps bring on the labor. This is a tough time(last days of pregnancy). Try some relaxation or meditation practices to calm your self before giving birth. You will be on to the next phase of your life soon enough. Enjoy the quiet time while you can.
I've heard that usually it just gives you the runs like you stated. Very seldom does it make a woman go into labor before her body is ready. I do know, however, that having sex toward the end of your pregnancy will have a better chance of inducing labor because the orgasm makes your uterus contract. You're better off doing a bunch of cardio and having sex. That's what my dr. says.
actually, i think she deserved the runs,,,why cant you just wait until nature takes it course,,theres a little baby in there that doesnt want to be screwed around with until its time to be screwed with
That's an old wives tale that doesn't work. You could hurt your baby..you could become dehydrated from the runs, lose nutrition...bad idea to do anything to bring the baby before it is ready..maybe it's lungs need just a little more time to develop..having a baby fighting for air would make you very sorry.just be patient and careful..think of it like baking a cake.if you take it out before it is ready,it's ruined.take it easy and imagine your baby growing healthy and strong everyday it stays longer it will be more developed.
Right NOW. Baby's come- when baby's come. The MINUTE you STOP worrying about it, - will be the minute your Contractions will start. So find a good movie to watch on TV, make a big bowl of popcorn- %26amp; enjoy yourself. Odds ARE- you'll never get to see the end of the movie... Good luck! :)
Actually, in recent studies castor oil has been found to be potentially dangerous to the fetus...you should have done some research first...and it wont help speed up labor either.
You really need to let your doctor know you have taken this and how much of it. It is extremely dangerous for the fetus. He/She will ingest the castro oil and end up having a bowel movement in the womb. The baby can then inhale it's own bowel movement and get a very serious lung infection. How far along are you in your pregnency? Call you doctor right now.
castor oil dont work if you really want to go in to labor at you next Dr appt ask if the DR will strip you normally this will cause you to go in to labor with in 24 hours i was striped at 3pm and had my baby at 5:47am the next morning
I would give up on it working. What happens it that it does cause the runs, which then causes the uterus to contract. Yes, it can give you contractions but, they are only false labor contractions from the upset of having the runs. I tried this and had really bad cramping and contractions that lasted for hours and hours but, when I went to the hospital, it turned out to be the false labor. I didn't dialate any and I am still waiting( 2 weeks later). I have given up on ways to bring on labor and know that the day will come when he wants to come out.
I think it's time to give up. Castor oil doesn't work, hon- you'll only go into labor when it's time. I'm sorry you had to get the runs to learn that lesson...
It's a good rule of thumb that if you try something that effective and it does not work, your body and the baby just aren't ready. Even in a hospital with strong drugs like pitocin and the like, if a baby is not ready to come, nothing will work.

I recommend waiting another few days before trying again, simply because you dont' want to dehydrate yourself, which can really complicate matters for you and the baby. Also, there is a theory that what makes your bowels move can also make the baby's move, which means her first bowel movement could be inutero and she could breathe it in and suffocate when born or have a very hard time breathing (or even get an infection).

Do be careful and use it in moderation. Good luck and I hope she comes soon! I am one day from my due date and VERY ready to get her out too, but not much is working with me either.....so I am just going to wait and watch and hope that she makes up her mind to make her appearance very soon.

Hope that helps.

PS go for a long long walk. Go out to the park or walk down town for a good 3-4 hours, keep yourself hydrated and REALLY get some good walking in and see if that helps. The pressure of the baby's head on your cervix can release hormones that can put you into labor. Also, look up some acupuncture and reflexology for getting contractions going....that can help soften your cervix and get your body more ready to go into labor.

Good luck. :)

Bush speech today mentioned if we lost the war the OIL WOULD BE LOST. CONS say not important?

CONS on here say we are not there because of the oil. How come it keeps getting into speeches?Bush speech today mentioned if we lost the war the OIL WOULD BE LOST. CONS say not important?
No neocon will be able to intelligently answer your question. Just watch and see.Bush speech today mentioned if we lost the war the OIL WOULD BE LOST. CONS say not important?
Freudian slip?
DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

We've already spent far more than we could ever hope to gain from oil revenues. So it clearly is not about oil.
What about people and terrorism? The oil comes from free trade. He has lost his way and his goals.
I see the Iraqi government is going to give foreign investors,(read as big oil) thirty years leases to their oil fields. Is this what we were really doing in Iraq?
Wow you people amaze me. You know or should know fully well that what some of us meant and said in plain English was that we wern't there primarily for the oil as so many have accused Bush of being there for as his primary reason. Maybe if I write slower? When and if we cut and run from Iraq who do you think will take over the oil? With the 10% of the worlds oil that Iran already has combined with the Iraqi oil in the hands of terrorist groups they will be able to play havic with the free world's economy.
because MO, if al qaeda has control of the oil, that amount of production will not be on the free market.

I thought a whiz like you would be up on economics.
thats because republicans are TERRORIST

republicans hate america and therefore hate our brave American troops

unfortunately the constitution did not know a moron like bush would be president therefore they would have made it impossible in the constitution for a baby killing thing like bush to be president of the greatest country in the world.
Why did the Dems back Bush then. Shouldn't you be fishing.
FYI, we get our oil from more than 13 other countries!
We arent there cause of oil, we're there because someone crashed into the twin towers; you would lose the oil too but a lot more is at stake then just stupid oil.

Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?

Depends on where they are born. People in Africa living in poverty and starving to death don't use any.

In America the average is one million BTU's per person per day.

Splitting the difference, 100,000 people will use one million BTU's per day from birth until death.

So these people will use 100 billion BTU's per day.

Living 70 years is 365.25 * 70 = 25,568 days.

Figure on 2.56 E+15 BTU's total.

Of this total, about 40% in America is from oil.

So 1 E+15 is an estimate = 1 quintillion BTU's per person over their lifetime.

One barrel of oil = 42 U.S. gallons = 5,800,000 Btu

So 176,000,000 barrels of oil

The US consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. So about nine days of oil usage by the USA would cover all these people.Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?
I'm hoping that 80% of todays birthed, can use renewable energy sources. Assuming that they do not, my guess would be 20,000 gal per yr.Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?
Good to the last drop.
I don't know. Too much, I suppose.
If they all lived in the west and consumed 50litres / week after the age of 18 until they were 70 that makes 50*52*52 person thats 135,200 litres * 200,000 = 27,040,000,000

if the average litres/week was 100 then it might be 54bn litres. but burning carbon fuels like that might be illegal in 70 years.

  • Today big oil says oil speculation not part of the problem,,,,WHAT?

You have got to love these guys. They come out and say oil speculation is not causing oil price to rise and that its all econ.101 supply and demand. That is BS!. Just last week Iraq threatened to block oil and the price went up immediatly. This ditty below is from the article. They have got to know Americans see through this. In the short term, for our sake ,stop the ban on US drilling. Big oil holds the leases, they know exactly where the oil is. Make them drill, make them spend to expand refining capacity. Make us become energy independent from 3rd world oil and see what happens. We have the techology, we have the oil, we can make us bigger, stronger, faster. :-) We need to fix this first along with the economy. Go for nuclear, solar, wind. Don't put our eggs in one basket.

U.S. light crude was up $1.64 at $141.85 a barrel by 10:59 a.m. EDT, after a record high of $143.67 a barrel, supported by concerns over tensions between Israel and Iran over Tehran's nuclear program.Today big oil says oil speculation not part of the problem,,,,WHAT?
Markets oversupplied, however all this speculation bs has oil trading at far higher prices than normal demand would dictate. Oil is an inelastic demand, but the supply is also inelastic. Demand has not outstripped supply, so there should be an equilibrium pricing, but since we will buy are gasoline at whatever price it refuses to stabilize. I believe most of the pricing of oil occurs on paper barrels, aka speculation. Kind of ridiculous for the market to be this volatile when oil contracts are delt out months in advance.

I have heard stories that Iran is not selling its quota and even has leased oil tankers because it ran out of storage, but the author did not cite a source, so I am still waiting on that information. I think Opec is pumping out all the oil it cares to do. Just not profitable for them to increase production when they are already making a killing at current sales.

Point is, I do believe pricing will only continue to increase, but the driving force behind it is beyond simple economics.Today big oil says oil speculation not part of the problem,,,,WHAT?
Some say closing the so-called ';Enron exemption would cause prices to drop between 25 and 50 percent within 30 days. il drilling might tale 10-30 years to pay off.

Meanwhile, the State Department has been helping the raqis write their oil leases with Big Oil

Riiiiight. No conflict of interest there.
there is one reason and one reason only to the rising oil prices, to crush the Greenback
Remember the 70's same old BS

99 dodge neon has been leaking oil. Lifters have been tapping-today the tapping sound became ULTRA LOUD.?

Am I about to blow a rod in the engine? It sounds much like a chevy cavalier I had years ago that DID blow a rod but it left me on the side of the road in a cloud of smoke and fluids leaking from the block...Is my neon still repairable and what about costs? Will it be hard core expensive?99 dodge neon has been leaking oil. Lifters have been tapping-today the tapping sound became ULTRA LOUD.?
The sound you mention is most definitely from a lack of oil....need to fix this first. Neon's oil leaks are usually the head gasket or the cam shaft sensor bolted to the rear of the head.

I would get the leak fixed and maybe the noise will cease, unless of course major damage has already occurred in which you are looking at a huge repair bill. Good luck99 dodge neon has been leaking oil. Lifters have been tapping-today the tapping sound became ULTRA LOUD.?
Yes; from what your describing; especially if the sound is really loud that its a very real possibility that your going to blow a rod or worse. Id see if you can put oil in it and see if it quiets down and be sure to keep oil in it and fix the leak.

If not your looking at installing another engine which may cost more than the car is worth and you may be better off buying a better car.
sounds like it to me, why don't you fix the leak? At least keep it full of oil or it's just a matter of time........
put some oil in it make sure it quiets down if yes its fixable if no buy a new car

he has to make sure that we feed his people of the Muslim countries.

I guess all the americans who voted for him, didn't mind paying over $4.00 a gallon for gas. This will mean that the economy is going to get much worse and fall into a depression. More homeless families, and hungry children. But this is what is needed to make sure that we are a socialized country.....being dependent on the govt. for everything. Say good by to your dreams, the govt. will dictate to you what you can and cannot be.
How are we ever going to pay China back the billions we owe them if we let them come and steal from us? Could Chinese oil companies be the foreigners who illegally contributed so much to Obama's $850,000,000 campaign fund?
These are the same people that wanted to charge the Oil Companies when the prices spiked.

I am sure that WHEN the prices go up again that they will have someone else to blame.
Obama has not said word one about offshore drilling since he took office.

Go back to your momma's milk.
i can't wait for obama to step down already
us republicans love to be angry, we love to complain, we do not even need a reason, for instance this guy is just making stuff up
That's going to be one heck of a long bit to get to, oh, say, Santa Barbara.
You get what you ask for sometimes and they asked for it.!~!

My car died today and I think it was the oil.?

I had my car in to be inspected about a week ago. The lady said to me that the oil was dirty and needed to be changed but I had time. If the car was nearly out of oil would they have told me that? My car died today and it looks like I was out of oil !!! What do I do? The gage was low but never any where near zero.My car died today and I think it was the oil.?
Only the engine oil dipstick can be used to check the engine oil level. The car must be parked on a level spot. As long as you didn't have to add more than 2 1/2 quarts of oil, I think your engine will be ok, but never let your oil run low again by checking the dipstick every other fuel fill up.My car died today and I think it was the oil.?
generally speaking, if the oil is in the cross hatched (or between the holes) area you would be okay, if the oil level is in the low operating range it should start, unless you are not getting oil pressure. In that case it will not start on purpose, to keep you from destroying your engine. If it was dry, look under the car for oil leaks, and if it was smoking before, that would indicate bad valve seals, bad valves, or bad rings (no compression). If it ran normally before this, I would suspect something besides the oil level first.
if it was low and died, then rebuild or replace time! They don't run very good very long with out it, it's like blood for us! No they would not have told you that that is your responsibility. I did not get 249,000 miles by ignoring mine!
If you have no oil in your car and it died, then you need to replace the engine. You probably locked up the motor. Not their fault you have not properly maintained your vehicle.
yea they probable wold have told you put some oil in if it runs your good if not you probable blew up your motor from not having enough oil but its probable your gas or spark if it not the oil
did the engine seize up,if so, then where did the oil go?

Its like 20 below zero and today when i started my truck and i came back i noticed i was leaking oil?

where would it coming from its just a little drip in the frontIts like 20 below zero and today when i started my truck and i came back i noticed i was leaking oil?
WELL ITS 20 BELOW, DID YOU RUN YOUR TRUCK SO IT WARMED UP, IT COULD BE A FRONT SEAL, PAN GASKET IS IT OIL OR POWER STEERING, MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AROUND. I SAY RUN THE TRUCK AND WATCH IT MIGHT WARM UP ENOUGH TO SEAL BACK UP BUT DOUBT IT. JUST DONT RUN IT OUT OF OILIts like 20 below zero and today when i started my truck and i came back i noticed i was leaking oil?
Who knows. We are not there and you didn't even bother to tell us what kind of truck.

  • So i heard today about veggie oil! any advice please?

Today on another ttc page I heard about not using any kinds of lube just something like preseed. But they say use veggie oil. how true do you guys think this is? or will it even work? I'm on 12 cycle day when is the best time concieve? can suggestions please. NO RUDE COMMENTSSo i heard today about veggie oil! any advice please?
Artificial lubricants such as vegatable oils, glycerin, petroleum jelly, and saliva can kill sperm. I would not recommend vegetable oil. There are recent studies that show canola oil and baby oil have minimal impact on sperm. You can use raw egg whites (not the yolk) or preseed, or preconceive plus. If you decide to buy preseed, but the internal kind. Good luck to you, and lots of baby dust :)

Look on preseed.com and click on places to buy to find a store near you. Preconceive Plus is available at Pick N Save, CVS, and Wal-Mart.So i heard today about veggie oil! any advice please?
I have never heard this but I have heard of women using egg whites as sperm friendly lubricant. I have never tried it - I use the knock off version of Preseed called Preconceive. I bought it at Rite aid. I swear that it helped me get pregnant after 13 months of ttc naturally. Sadly, we lost the baby due to miscarriage but we are trying again. I would recommend Preconceive to anybody.

    Oil companies are already taxed.

The windfall profit tax is simply a tool to pander to the economically ignorant.

If he indeed made this statement, then I have lost all hope for the next four years.
I think this could cause alot of problems. I don't trust the oil companies, but asking them to give back their profit could set a bad precedent.

McCain is an idiot. But he's not as big an idiot as Obama.
That's not what he said. According to Faux News that is.

Not light sweet crude..just crude...Anyone know what oil closed at today?
FYI, the crude oil quote that is used as the benchmark in the United States is called WTI (West Texas Intermediate). This is a light, sweet crude. Another example is Brent in the U.K (traded on ICE). You can't have a quote for just ';crude,'; you have to be more specific. WTI settled at $73.37. Brent settled at $69.63Anyone know what oil closed at today?

Although it's true we get crude from Venezuala, Canada and Alaska (to name a few) -- you may not that regardless of the cost to the oil company, every station in a ity is within pennies of retail cost. In short, ALL companies are in essence in a pact to make excessive profits. Boycotting means nothing.
Did you know 80% of our oil comes from Canada - not the Middle East?
Did you notice your chart shows that all those companies use 0 barrels of non imported oil?

Which means they DO import all their oil.
Not sure what the questions is but I know we drill, and find oil here in the USA . There are several refineries that I know of that refine and distribute oil found here at home.My husband hauled it for several years and we own oil and gas leases .We keep up witih the skinny on this stuff.I believe your information is wrong.
This is 00% correct...I do not buy any gas unless it is on that list.
Readers of this question may wish to read the entire piece on this from snopes.....you will see that much of the info given in the email is misleading

I am sorry but I think you got the wrong info. But I know we should cut down on our use of oil
I don't understand your question or your point. We need to adequately exploit our own oil resources and develop alternate energy, so we don't need to import oil from anywhere...Middle East, Venezuela, or anywhere else.

  • I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?

I would be thinking valve cover gasket before head gasket or rings.

** bobweb, valve cover leaks can go right down the threads and cause oil on the electrodes. It's actually a rather common cause of misfires. **I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?
So now you see the real question: Is the oil on the spark plug electrodes which is inside the cylinder head or is the oil on the white insulator and the part of the spark plug that is outside the cylinder head with the plug wire hooked to it? Two completely different problems.I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?
Valve cover is loose, that's all. Or, replace the valve cover. Oil seeps down the holes the plugs live in from a leak on the cover gasket. Many times, just tightening it stops the problem.

Go, Granny, GO!!!Did your grandma cook you onion rings and give you a baby oil rub down today while taking shots of Tequila?

Oil hit $105. a barrel today, how concerned are you?

Will increases in fuel and food costs effect your spending? When do you think gas will cost $4.00 a gallon?Oil hit $105. a barrel today, how concerned are you?
it effects everything it seems! food,etc... of course it will slow down spending for some people. as far as the 4.00 dollar a gallon mark it depends on where you live. i suspect here in mi. it will be the summer months. and this summer , who knows? it could be more 5 bucks a gallon maybe? i am tired of the fluctuations!!! bad economy! BIG-G,,,Oil hit $105. a barrel today, how concerned are you?
I GUESS I WILL LOST SOME WEIGHT THIS SUMMER
its getting stupid and its starting to aggravate me
well baby face sure said some smack down words . but its a reality check . its going to effect me in every way but that rebate might get me through the summer and that's when it will reach four dollars a gallon across the country. we will never see two dollars a gallon again.
It is already more than $4.00 a gallon in some places here in CA. I will just plan my trips and stay at home on weekends. What else can we do but help ourselves.
You guys have got it good!!!!!!! Stop complaining. You could be paying what we are paying in the UK! All because of your idiot of a president.
Energy costs are likely to go much higher until alternatives are brought to market. Ethanol subsidies are driving up food prices. $4 a gallon gasoline may arrive this summer. Understanding the problem is important for our nation.

Oil is a commodity. The oil producer's profits are based on oil producer's supply and consumer's demand. Like any good marketing strategy, the producer gets the consumer hooked on their product. The addiction results in a willingness to allocate a larger portion of your disposable income on the product. Adoption of large SUVs and long commutes has made the US more dependent on oil (which just happens to be owned by some nasty groups ... Iran, Iraq, Russia, ...). .

The price of oil will continue to climb because world supply cannot support world demand. Peak oil may be here:

    http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/En鈥?/a>

The US government should raise the taxes on gasoline to start influencing the public's behavior. Europe pays nearly $9 a gallon for gas compared to $3 a gallon in the US. The delta is taxes. As you pointed out, Ethanol is not the solution because Ethanol raises the price of food. Clean Coal is a great alternative to Middle East oil.

Technologies will ultimately help, but a moral society must learn to waste less if they hope for longevity.
these price rises are world wide, now that is really worrying

My push lawnmower was smoking and quit running today. It has plenty of gas. I added oil too. What should I do?

Did it start smoking before or after you add oil? First check the oil level with the dip stick. If if is above the full mark drain some out. On most there is a plug on the bottom side of the engine. Remove the sparkplug wire and tip the mower, air filter up and remove the drain plug. There will be about a quart of oil. Put the plug back in and fill it to the full mark with new oil. Next remove and clean the air filter. If it is a paper filter and has oil on it replace it. Without the airfilter in place start the engine and let it run until the smoke clears up.My push lawnmower was smoking and quit running today. It has plenty of gas. I added oil too. What should I do?
buy a new oneMy push lawnmower was smoking and quit running today. It has plenty of gas. I added oil too. What should I do?
First thing, Clean the spark plug.

If it was smoking , the plug is probably all coated with carbon.
I would put a new filter in it,or wash the one in there reallly good.sometimes you have water in the gas tank, you should drain it and let it dry out completely. Then fill.also replace sparkplug.
sounds like your burnt the rings i n the engine , and or you added too much oil, hence the smoke, but drain al lthe oil out of it ,and only put back in to the level , if he wont start , it mite be dead , may it rest in peace!! ,with the other 40 million law mowers this year lol lol
You let it run out of oil and it will never be as good.Scrap it.
Clean the carburator, that is usually the culprit in many cases.
You may have added too much oil, this could cause excessive smoking. If this is the case just remove some of the oil. If this does not fix the problem it is the piston rings and you need to take it to a small engine repair shop.
Sparkplug is bad...thats the good thing..the bad thing yor engine just committed suicide.

Does anyone follow the price of light sweet crude oil? What a jump today.?

From 63.00 to 65.79 per barrel.Does anyone follow the price of light sweet crude oil? What a jump today.?
It bounces all over, just a few days ago it was considerably higher than that.

Yet, gasoline is still more volatile than crude. Unless, crude breaks $70 your not going to see it effect prices at the pump. As it is now it comes down to the limited refineries we have.Does anyone follow the price of light sweet crude oil? What a jump today.?
not really but i know that its going up

I'm 39 weeks today and yesterday my OB strip my membrane and today I took 1 tsp castor oil.?

How long the real labor start?I'm 39 weeks today and yesterday my OB strip my membrane and today I took 1 tsp castor oil.?
You will go when you are ready. You can also try having sex, or masterbating. Sometimes the contractions from an orgasm can help speed it along. And if worse comes to worst, you can try a plain water enema. Those work for some women, too. Castor oil can do the same thing, but it's gross.

Good luck!I'm 39 weeks today and yesterday my OB strip my membrane and today I took 1 tsp castor oil.?
If stripping your membranes is going to work, it will work within 48 hours of its being done.

The castor oil.... well, all that's going to do is give you the runs, which may or may not induce labor. But then you'll be in labor with the runs.

There's no way to tell if what was done is going to work or not or how long it's going to take if it works.

My membranes were stripped at 39 weeks as well. I was induced at 40 weeks........
You took Castor Oil to spped up your labor? The only thing that will do is spped up your bowels! I sure hope that was not your doctor's advice to you because if so she/he is wrong! Honey, calm down. When your baby is ready you will know it. Do not do anything to jeopardize you or the baby's health!

If you want to bring labor on there are a few better and safer ways to do it. One is to gently massage your nipples. I did that and I went into a safe labor and was blessed with a beautiful son! I now have 3 sons.

Calm down honey! It will be alright!
Castor oil does not speed up the labor process it only makes you go to the bathroom more then you already are.

If your doctor told you to take Castor oil to speed up the process he lied to you.

Bush signed energy bill today only if big oil companies got tax breaks.?

Is this political bribery?. Billions in tax breaks for the big oil companies so he would not veto an energy bill.Bush signed energy bill today only if big oil companies got tax breaks.?
';Unfortunately, the Senate last week stripped the bill of provisions that would have allowed Americans to get 15 percent of our electricity from renewable energy sources, and required dirty, polluting energy companies to pay their fair share of taxes.

In addition, just hours before approving the energy bill, the House passed the 2008 omnibus spending bill that would direct $30 billion in taxpayer money into subsidies for dangerous, costly, and polluting industries, specifically nuclear power and coal.

“Even though Congress is making serious strides towards moving clean energy legislation, it’s clear from the omnibus bait-and-switch that we have not completely broken the hold that dirty, polluting industries have in Congress,” Wayland said. “The reductions in global warming pollution from the energy bill could very well be wiped out by the new sources of pollution funded by the appropriations bill, such as liquid coal, which creates twice as much carbon dioxide pollution as gasoline.”Bush signed energy bill today only if big oil companies got tax breaks.?
Yep, even as a Republican I would have to say that someones hand is in the honey jar.
And Everyone on TV looked pleased as all get out! What a wonderful thing they had done for us! They can't get help for the uninsured, they can't get anything done for the little guy but, the wealthy, they sure have no problem getting bills passed for them! The energy bill is a no big deal, 13 years before the car companies have to up the mileage a car gets, 20 years before the electrical companies have to reign in pollution of our air! Many times I have stated that those who are supposed to be representing us are only representing themselves, they are mostly wealthy people elected by us to work for us, really? When are we going to wake up to the fact that the election process has to be funded by the government so that those not in the pocket of corporations are able to run for office. Since the beginning of this nation we have been run by the wealthy, things have not changed %26amp; never will unless we even the playing field %26amp; that can only be accomplished by making it so that the middle %26amp; lower income people are able to run for office. They are the only ones that truly know our needs %26amp; just might pass a few laws that would help us all share in the wealthy of this country, not just the chosen few!
Sure is embarrassing to all of the American public - whoever counted the votes made him the president, twice!
Well, isn't that special? Duped again. There is no end to this greedy bunch and their self-interest tax breaks. I don't care if it was written into law years ago....oil companies DO NOT NEED a tax break. They raise their prices and get the gift of a loophole! How good can it get for these crooks?
some more money in his pocket....
    Question for Canam

Who is the author of this bill and who voted for it?
As usual a liberal has no clues to the facts. #1 The taxbreaks were written into law decades ago. Congress merely renewed them. #2 It was the other part of the original bill Pres Bush objected to.The part that declared that any energy company producing more than a set amount of carbon dioxide would have to pay huge taxes.(In other words the taxpayers would get screwed again) Using my stste as an example. I live in Ohio. Democrats have refused to allow our local power companies to build nuclear plants like other states do so we had to keep our old coal plants open. Under the original bill our rates would increase by somewhere between 400 and 500 %. Pres Bush didn't think that was fair unless states like mine got time and permission to update. But I'm sure a liberal such as yourself sees nothing wrong with that................until they ask you to pay.

Today republicans betrayed the citizens by proteceting oil companies make you angry?

    http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080610鈥?/a>

This is a disgrace.Today republicans betrayed the citizens by proteceting oil companies make you angry?
No,that tax would of just been passed on to us as the consumer, oil and gas would of lost nothing.Making gasoline even higher and faster rise in price than it already is.Today republicans betrayed the citizens by proteceting oil companies make you angry?
    1. A windfall tax on the oil companies would be passed on to the consumer in HIGHER gas prices.

    2. Oil companies are PUBLIC corporations owned by American citizens. 40% of ownership is from private citizen investors; 40% is by mutual funds and 401K's (again private citizens). Windfall profit tax will only hurt those americans.

    3. Oil company profits as a percentage of cost are no different than any other corporation... about 10%.

    4. The dems once again pray on the ignorance of the populous who know about as much about economics as my 3 year old!
Well you could just invest in an oil company on account that most of them are publicly-traded. So when oil prices go up, your making money and not losing as much. Maybe the reps were trying to get us to do this. Democrats barely even know what investing is, on account that they don't know what they're doing.
I don't understand how taxing a oil company more is going to reduce gas prices. You think they would let them drill more in this country and build some more refineries that would reduce gas prices, but I guess the Democrats don't care about people. That is a disgrace
Yes taxing the oil companies will make them lower prices. Give me a break. It is wrong to limit the amount a company can profit. Their profit margins are not even close to what many companies make.
and the democratically led congress and house has been in charge for 2 years and oil prices have absolutely shot through the roof since they took over, i thought nancy pelosi had a plan for that.
But watch they will point the finder at the Dems because they have had a SLIM majority. They forget to mention that the Reps have prevented any change by their votes.
So what's new, since when do reps give a damn about an average person!

    Not much

Should America now dump the DEM Congress with today's ';No'; vote against drilling for oil?

The price of gas is rising everyday and the DEM led Congress has just voted ';No'; to the US drilling for oil to lower gas prices. What are these morons thinking? Perhaps it is time we threw the DEMS overboard and elected new people.Should America now dump the DEM Congress with today's ';No'; vote against drilling for oil?
I agree. Didn't the Dems come to power in the Congress on the promise of lower gas prices last time around? Yes... they did. Seems they just say whatever is needed to get elected, and then go right back to being Democrats once they are.Should America now dump the DEM Congress with today's ';No'; vote against drilling for oil?
Bush's dad was the one who set the moratorium on drilling, which is different than a ban by the way.

Why can't we drill in the land that has already been approved to drill in?? There are millions of acreage in the USA that has been approved to drill in but the oil companies are not drilling there. How can so many be so blind? Why focus on this off shore stuff? It's all politics and many people are not seeing the forest for the trees on this one.
    Yes.

The Democrats are all about punishment. They have NO plan for America so they should be allowed to regroup again to formulate one!

To all of those decrying foul about Oil leases...

Many of the leases for drilling are in areas of oil sands and oil shale.. These areas produce very poor grade oil in comparison to the ';single refine'; sweet crude that we are currently buying... Yes the oil is there.. its just more costly to produce and refine than buying the higher grade from overseas.
It would be nice but lets face it they are better at laying blame on Bush and conservatives.

Nanci and Harry have been a disaster so far. When they took over gas was less than 2.50$/gal now it is over 4$ so they are too blame in my book.

This problem goes back to the 70s when the Dems ran congress also.
No, since there is no supply shortage.

It is proof that Bush is a liar.

There is also no ban on offshore drilling. That is a misconception and an outright lie.

More miles of our coastline were opened in 2006 and not one rock has yet to be touched to begin drilling.
No, I trust the dem congress. They came into the mess that the rep. created. I don't trust these republicans who do everything to get votes %26amp; trick stupid people. No, Bush should be thrown off the throne.

The oil drilled will not affect prices for the next 5 years, and will only supply a few years of oil.

This comes at the danger of destroying wildlife and spills. hardly seems worth it.
Yes, I am agreeing with that, considering gas is about $4.07

I make $6.10 That is over a 3rd of what i make an hour just to get a gallon of gas, it would be cheaper for me to quit my job than work.

Oil shot up over $10 today, $16 in two days, why isnt Congress having an emergency meeting?

congress cannot do sh*i*t for the short term price fix.however congress can wake the f*uc*k up and allow drilling in the USA.we have more oil than the rag heads.the reserves are estimated for over 500 years ! these assholes shut down drilling over 20 tears ago in the USA.time to force these pricks to listen to the people !Oil shot up over $10 today, $16 in two days, why isnt Congress having an emergency meeting?
if you want oil prices to go down (relative to the value of the dollar) demand that your congresspeople not bail out the banks and mortgage companies that used bad practices for securing loans that people could not afford. Do not bail out the people that didn't read or get proper advice before signing their mortgage contract. And tell the federal reserve to raise interest rates to a proper level. This should boost the value of the dollar worldwide, and therefore lower the cost of oil (relative to the value of the dollar).Oil shot up over $10 today, $16 in two days, why isnt Congress having an emergency meeting?
Because whatever they try to do GWB shots them down.

At this stage the administration and the Congress are just dead in the water.

Nothing will get done until about this time next year.
To what end? Do you honestly think that Congress can actually DO anything about what a foreign-based speculator is willing to bid on a futures contract for oil to be delivered in the next few months?

We, the consumers of the product are the ONLY ones who can impact demand and therefore prices. It is starting to shift somewhat, as manufacturers are scrambling to slash prices on gas-guzzling SUVs and full-sized pickups. But until Americans in general give up on the notion that it is their God-given right to be wasteful, there won't be enough impact to change prices much.
The proper question is, why aren't the Democrats letting us drill our own reserves?
they are ';busy'; with the election
That's ok. They make enough money to cover it. Oh, you meant us? Why do think they care?
What do you mean, the democrats already had meetings that are going to have MASSIVE impacts on decreasing the costs of oil - 1) Sue OPEC, 2) Blame the oil companies -

This is the infinite wisdom of the democrats in congress - brilliiant policies that will have lasting impacts at decreasing the cost of energy in the future. If you cant beat em, SUE OPEC!!!!

Dont build refineries, nuclear power plants, open up anwar, drill offshore, drill onshore - no dont do any of that, according to the democrats we should sue opec and blame the oil companies, even when oil is bought and sold on a global market and they dont set the price...

Drill more, drill now -- pay less later
What would they do? They arent going to suddenly realize the idiocy of putting so much of our domestic energy potential off limits- we have oil that will last for some time- we have the technology to make liquid fuel from coal as well and many other options but hell if we work with that... Its all politics that serves no purpose. We also need to look into REAL alternatives but again its all politics and the leftists are more concerned with dividing this nation and seizing political power than doing what is right...

And oil is an international commodity- beyond what I've stated, Congress and the President cant do a thing
Meeting about what? More things they can't do to stop it? Oil is a global commodity, neitehr congress nor the president can do anything about the day to day fluctuations in price.
They are but they just don't care about America or American's. They only care about how they can fatten their campaigh war chests.
THEY ARE PLANNING THEIR NEXT MOVE ON HOW TO MAKE LIFE MORE DIFFICULT TO MIDDLE CLASS AMERICA.
cause they all have money and we don't so they don't give a rats ***
Because they dont give a rats butt!
    liberal congress

    they don't care
The entities that benefit from the OIL price are the sugar daddies of congress.

Human nature is to support one's benefactor's benefit.

    * all my posts are my opinion.
Congress doesn't control the price of oil. There isn't anything they can do about it, emergency meeting or regular sessions won't make any difference.
Because they don't care is my guess and they can't find a way to blame President Bush for it... lol
The committees are, but having a full joint session wouldn't be productive at this point- too many of them don't have the facts yet.

Aylatroy: Very good point, but I don't believe congress has ever considered productivity when deciding whether to have a meeting. It's sort of all they do.
They are not having an emergency meeting because none of them have ever lived on the financial edge. All of our elected officials have had money in their background. They do not know what it's like to have a budget and limited resources. Our entire economy could collapse, especially with the new green philosophies. Before anyone acts on it, it will be too late. The Clintons haven't actually had to pay for gas since 1992 (so I heard on nationally news) and I'm not sure they had to when Clinton was the governor of Arkansas. You have to actually experience something for it to really hit home and I don't think it has for the Senate. We are at a critical time as a nation and worldwide and people should really consider the issues before they vote. I've watched the coverage of the candidates on TV and my mouth falls open in amazement. Gone are the days of selfless service and selfish ambition stands in its place. Who knows who is funding the campaigns of these people? Where is this money really coming from and why? After we hit the bottom, maybe someone who really cares about people will rise up and do the right thing. I hope it won't be too late.
Because their hands are tied ! Unless we start drilling the demand side economics will prevail!
In a few days, the Dems will bring out the oil executives, talk tough, but provide no solutions. That has been thier game plan for 20 years. Yet the same idiots have been in Congress for 20 years.

5-20W oil or 10-40W oil, what's the best for today's tight engines?

5/20W oil flows better in the cold, is 10-40 better for hot weather? The oil is in a 180 degree hold the whole time, except for start up. What should we use?5-20W oil or 10-40W oil, what's the best for today's tight engines?
I live in Texas and it gets pretty hot down here. I use a 10w-30motor oil in all five of my vehicle's. If you would look under your hood , you would see that on most new cars use a 5w - 30 motor oil. There's no need to use a motor oil over a 30 w unless you vehicle's is useing or burning oil , then you might want to use a 40 w motor oil.5-20W oil or 10-40W oil, what's the best for today's tight engines?
5-20 as the oil pump will have to work less to circulate it. Better overall lubrication. Short term the 5-20 for sure. Long term usage before changing and the 10-40 thicker viscosity will hold up better.

The 10-40 will last longer and the 5-20 will give the better short term performance. If you change oil every 3000 miles use 5-20. Personally I would use 5-30
With the new cars of today i would recommend using whatever oil the manufacturer recommends.

The only time i start running different types of oil is when i'm running a pumped up V8. (like a built chevy small block or ???). Thats the only time i change the oils around from break in oil, winter and summer oil.

The new cars may cause damage inside the engine if you dont use the right engine oil.

A friend has a new Porsche 911 that runs 0-40 full synthetic, when he tried 0-30 in it, the top end made all kinds of noise immediately and when he switched back to the recommended stuff it went away...thats just what type it requires to run..

So simply put just run the recommended stuff and that will be the best way to go!

    Good luck
In the cold I suggest 0W20 if your car asks for 5/20, the 5 will be more thinner then 5 at start-up. I do not know how many miles you actually have on your car, this has to be taken into consideration. @ 100,000 miles you would now use either 5W30 or 0W30, summer 10 W 30 or even 10W40 and make dam sure you are useing the technical data cleaning for your engine. On the back of all bottles, you will see GM 929 or Ford ww105cc and so forth.
depends on what the engine was designed for.

pick one oil (brand, grade, type) and stick with it.

My Ranger used Motorcraft 5W20 for the 80K miles I owned, and never used or leaked a drop.

Our Jeep Liberty CRD uses Mobil1 0W40, used two quarts the first 5K miles, and has not used or leaked a drop since - now at 55K miles.
the factory usually recommends 5w-30 but you can use 10w-30 also, I would stick with one or the other, in the old days they would use the 10w-40 in the summer but these newer engines don't need that thick of oil.
Whatever the factory recommends. I know of no modern vehicle by the way that recommends 10W40. I find it rather surprising they still make the stuff really. I haven't used any in probably 15 years.
I recommend using the oil specified by the manufacturer. The engine is designed based on tolerance to perform it's best based upon a specific oil viscosity.
I would use what the factory recommends. It will answer your question in the owners manual.

I have a 1996 jeep cherokee, and today it started to leak oil and my catalytic converter is smoking, help?

if any mechanic could help answer this question , i would really apreciate it. i will repeat it again. i have a 96' jeep cherokee and while iw as driving home today the catalytic converter starrted to smoke and near the front end oil started to leak. i looked at the oil filter but nothing was comming out of it. ifI have a 1996 jeep cherokee, and today it started to leak oil and my catalytic converter is smoking, help?
Sounds like the seal on the crankshaft has failed, the smoke is probably from oil blowing back on the converter....I have a 1996 jeep cherokee, and today it started to leak oil and my catalytic converter is smoking, help?
It is possible that your valve cover leakage. There are a lot more seals on the engine that can leak. From oil pan to time chail cover.

If the oil runs down the exhaust, then it is most likely valve covers.

    Hope that helps.
it could be 2 problums, One your spark plugs are not firing at the right time, or you could have your head potrs leeking. First chek all the spark plugs and then open up your rediator cap, and look if there are any white stuff in the rediator? If there is then your head is leaking.
I had a jeep cherokee, they are renown for their tendency to leak oil. From what I understand it generally comes from one of two places. The valve cover (gasket) or the crankcase seal.

Try tracing the flow of oil. hopefully, it's the valve cover.

    tom
The converter smoking is most likely is blowback and the oil leak would have to be physically searched for. Maybe if you started from the oil pan and worked your way up you'd find the oil leak.

What's the difference in the price from a year ago to today - for a barrel of oil and a gallon of gasoline?

Actually as of today the price of a barrel of crude is two dollars less than it was a year ago. The price of a barrel dropped yesterday ..did you notice any drop in gas prices like you would if the price of oil went up???What's the difference in the price from a year ago to today - for a barrel of oil and a gallon of gasoline?
Jess ,a barrel of oil is about the same ,but the gasoline is a different story ,what a joke .

last yr we where paying $2.50 a gallon ,about the same price of a gallon of milk.

today we paying $3.09 to $3.19 in the south .i heard California they paying a dollar more..

It's called POLITICS.What's the difference in the price from a year ago to today - for a barrel of oil and a gallon of gasoline?
A damaged refinery and pipe lines, having to import gasoline. When the oil companies have to PURCHASE gasoline instead of refine it we pay more.http://www.taxpayer.net/energy/pdf/CRS_R鈥?/a>

You can see the date this began and the increase in demand only raises costs higher as we not only strain our own refineries but start straining those we import from.

  • I changed the oil on a cold engine today. BAD?

Today when I changed the oil in my 305 chevy, I forgot to warm up the engine right before hand. However the truck was running about 3 hours prior and the oil was luke-warm. Should I run the engine and change the oil all over again? Or should I just let it go this time and change it again on schedule?

PS the truck has 300K miles on it.I changed the oil on a cold engine today. BAD?
Not bad at all - and a heck of a lot better than not changing it at all. Obviously, you will get a cleaner drain out if the oil is at operating temperature - but the little bit of oil that clings to the internals when the oil is cold is not a big issue when it's diluted into five quarts of new oil.I changed the oil on a cold engine today. BAD?
yes its better to run the engine for a period of time so it gives the

oil enough time to get warm, also you might want to consider using

a can of engine flush,it gets all the sludge out of your engine but

DO NOT drive your truck with the engine flush in the engine,it will

    damage your engine.good luck.
The only reason to warm engine, is that it makes the oil flow out of the engine faster. You're fine don't even give it a second thought.
There is no need to run the engine before changing the oil unless the oil has not been changed in a coon's age and is as thick as sorghum molasses.

Is Pres. Bush and Vice pres. Cheny, the sole reason for the oil prices today?

If one can believe what they read on the internet, consider the following: When President Bush went to visit the King in Saudia Arabia, the King told Bush, if you want more oil, buy it! Is it possible, the King and other middle East countries are intentionally trying to bring the United States down to it's knees by increasing the oil prices, which in turn would allow them (the middle East allies), to stock pile their money?

This might sound far out, but take a look around at what's happening here in the U.S. It won't be much longer until people won't be able to afford to drive to work to buy the necessities of life. What will society do in response to the problem? The future looks pretty bleak from where I see it. I was here in the depression, and what's ahead looks much, much worse. Is Pres. Bush and Vice pres. Cheny, the sole reason for the oil prices today?
They have nothing to do with oil prices, if they did, they would lower them which would increase the economy making them look better and increasing their very low approval ratings. Is Pres. Bush and Vice pres. Cheny, the sole reason for the oil prices today?
We still don't know enough about the Cheney energy policy that was devised with the help of the oil companies. It does appear however to be working out well for them.

Bush's request to the Saudis seemed a little half-hearted. The Saudis said that the problem is not supply but speculation in the markets. Who knows for sure.
No, but the entire right wing party (GOP) has been either ignoring the energy problem, lying about it, or chosing to wage war to secure the resource.

Oh, and Yes, they have profited from it enourmously.

A REAL leader would have been working with our nation to make us the world leaders in efficiency and renewable energy and mass transportation.

Instead, they misled the stupid into voting for ';God's Party'; while they sucked the nation' s coffiers dry.

And the poor fools still haven't caught on!
i am selling out to bigger competitor today, hope to get a co. pickup and gas card. work is scarce, gas too high, time for a change, i can't make it anymore being self employed. bush and cheny are big oil, they are making it easy to rape the little guy
No its more the fault of the far left nuts for not allowing drilling or nuke electric plants. Its a shame Red China is drilling of the coast of Florida BIA Cuba
    In a word, no.

Saudi's have increased production 300k barrels, price still went up again.
CT's and no facts, typical liberal.
No. Why would you think so?
well, here this, i live in the middle east, and there is no money in here either, and the king of saudi arabia is not the only to blame for this, 1st of all it is the U.S.A that is trying to bring the whole damn world to it's knees, just take a look at the total death toll caused by american wars to FREE THE WORLD, 2nd just look at the american oil companies that are EXCLUSIVELY extracting oil in the gulf and see how much money are they making!!!! a final thought for you, these people in the arabian gulf you're talking about, are nothing but puppets, so just try to search for the ones pulling thier strings ; )

    peace
they are directly responsible for taking out the 3rd largest exporter in the world (Iraq) thus putting upward pressure on prices

the other thing they have direct control over is the US budget and the huge deficit spending caused by the war and unprecedented tax cuts during war time have caused a devaluation of the Dollar by 50% compared to the Euro and Pound

this has made imported fuel another 50% higher for US consumers

add to that Speculators that have dropped the dollar as an investment and instead have bought into commoddities (oil, gas, copper, steel, gold) and you see thier prices go through the roof

oil analysts say that the ';true'; price of oil with todays supply and demand should be $55 to $65 a barrel (not $128)

but the weak dollar and speculators have driven it to double what its true value is
No, they are not. US has lots of oil reserves but Congress will not allow any drilling. If we could drill some and buy some we would have more stability. Congress will not license construction of new refineries, there has not been a new refinery built since 1972, you have to admit that technology has made alot of progress since then.

Congress also will not license atomic power plants. France, Germany, Spain, Holland, Italy, Brazil etc. produce almost all their electric power in nuclear power plants while we use coal and oil. Once we get away from politics and compromise among energy resources and production we'll be OK.
Actually what the Saudi King said was if you build more refineries that can handle oil we will produce more oil which will lower the price. The problem with the oil prices today is that we haven't built a new refinery in about thirty years. No one wants one in their back yard and also the EPA regulations make it very expensive to build one safely. So to answer your question no Bush and Cheney are not responsible for the current gas prices. It is the environmentalists, democrats, and the EPA working together that is hampering our supply of gasoline. We have been importing gas now for a number of years because we do not have enough capacity in our refineries and they are old.
Bush %26amp; Cheney make their millions on the oil, Saudia Arabia's King told Bush NO he would not put out more oil for the usa How foolish we are to ever think the Saudia's would care about the middle %26amp; lower class hard working people , when they care less about there own working class people or there women! Now there is to much blood in the oil and we need to find another source of energy, and fast! would love to live long enough to tell them Saudia's to drink and swim in there oil! or simply tell them to go to HELL! Oh and take bush %26amp; chney with them!

Does anyone think oil will bounce back up after today's drop? Cam fell 12 dollars, could it go up tomorrow?

after all, yahoofinance news said it was an overreaction.Does anyone think oil will bounce back up after today's drop? Cam fell 12 dollars, could it go up tomorrow?
yes, oil is a very volitile commodity and price swings will be erratic from day to day and week to week; the long term trend remains very bullish for higher oil prices and the trend is your friend, I see oil at $114-119 a barrell by the end of next year. OPEC has been fairly reluctant to open the spicket, demand has increased and hurricanes have thus far had little impact on gulf rigs as well; see where the API (American Petroleum Institute) numbers come in on Wednesday morning.Does anyone think oil will bounce back up after today's drop? Cam fell 12 dollars, could it go up tomorrow?
it will of course bounce up

    Justin
You can never be sure what oil will do from day to day, but unless something happens to support the current price, oil will probably continue to fall. Its anybody's guess where it will find support. The drillers and services industries will fall right along with the price of oil. It's always possible that CAM will bounce back briefly tomorrow, but at least in the short term it will probably trend lower along with the price of oil. If you're an investor, than go ahead and hold it. It never hurts to have a small position in the energy sector and Cam looks like a decent option. Lately most of the oil services companies have been posting great earnings, so a great earnings report won't insulate CAM from a downturn. It's up to you whether to hold it or sell it. If you bought it because it has good fundamentals, then go ahead and hold it, just be prepared for a little pain in the short term. If you bought it as a trade, it might be better to sell it and wait for oil to find a bottom.

Considering that the recent run up in the price of oil came without any real market moving events, it might be a good idea to hold it, who knows what oil will do if we do get some real market moving event. Then $100 might just be a start.

EDIT: Ok, this is where trading gets tricky. I see where CAM pulled back $3.00 today, while oil continued to fall. I would have liked the bounce back to be a bit stronger. The volume was good. I would expect there to be a bit of follow through in the morning. Then you'll have to decide whether to hold it or sell it. I would keep an eye on the price of oil. If oil continues to fall, than any upward move tomorrow will probably be short lived, and reverse in the afternoon. But if oil holds up, then CAM should perform very well. It also depends upon the overall market. If the market has another strong up day tomorrow it could carry CAM with it. But I don't expect that to happen. I'm betting that the market will start the day strong, but will run out of steam in the afternoon. This is data dependant though. Good numbers in the morning could propel the market a little higher, but poor numbers will cause the market to sell off sharply, especially toward the close.

All in all, I'm going to be holding my oil stocks. In the long run that's the best play. But I won't be a buyer.

Watch the last half hour tomorrow. If there's a strong sell off, then Thursday and Friday could bring another strong downturn.
supply and demand, dictates prices. China is demanding more oil to feed its growing economy...so you do the math.

Im turboing my civic i got the oil supply line today. its 3/16 diameter. will it give enough oil to the turbo?

i need to know if a 3/16 diameter line will give the turbo enough oil....Im turboing my civic i got the oil supply line today. its 3/16 diameter. will it give enough oil to the turbo?
blow it up dudeIm turboing my civic i got the oil supply line today. its 3/16 diameter. will it give enough oil to the turbo?
That size will work provided that your engine's oil pump is working well. Your Civic? year, miles on the motor? Might blow up! Hope that the money for turbo was not all that you have because the turbo also need a oil drain into the oil pan. Larger injectors and better exhaust. Turbo timer and boost control how about fuel mixture control and exhaust gas tempature Gauge? Making a 2.2 liter engine larger by putting over 14 pounds of boost to it requires lot's more engineering. Than came with X brand E-bay intercooler turbo kit. You are intercooled right?
Yes, one of my turbo cars uses a -03 line (3/16) and it is fine. The other car uses a -04 (1/4) with a Function 7 restrictor/oil line adapter on the inlet. Both get plenty of oil - - you don't want to ';flood'; the bearing with oil.

How much money did the oil companies make today ..?

More money than you could shake a stick at. For example, ADNACO (Abu Dhabi National Oil Co - the largest producer) alone produces over 2.7 million barrels per day crude oil. With prices hovering around the $130/barrel mark, that's 351 million dollars. ONE oil company, ONE day. Makes you think, doesn't it?How much money did the oil companies make today ..?
Thanks. Have a biscuit. Report Abuse
How much money did the oil companies make today ..?
a couple more million that they wont be sharing with anybody... greedy bastards.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

Do liberals have a magical energy source that we can use today that will take the place of oil?

Rainbows and sunbeams, but they only work if a Democrat is in office.Do liberals have a magical energy source that we can use today that will take the place of oil?
stop blaming Liberals. The energy plan of all U.S. Presidents have been a failure for the past fifty plus years. We are using the same fuel that we have used for a hundred years. We love to say we are the greatest nation on earth. The fact is, the greatest nation on earth should have led the world to an alternate source of energy a long time ago.Do liberals have a magical energy source that we can use today that will take the place of oil?
And drilling for oil today in America will do nothing but maybe increase the oil supply by 2% in 8-10 years. Wow, let's drill today so we can send the stuff to China! Their gonna have millions of more cars by then, there will be more demand for a limited resource and there is plenty of promising alternative modes of transportation like hydrogen, air pressurized engines, electric, bio-fuels, and natural gas.....and yet you call that magical??

The only thing magic is if your limited oil resource manages to carry us forward 10 years from now. Think prices are high today? Just wait until those millions more cars come on the road in India and China.
There's nothing ';magical'; about it. Many sources of alternative energy are in the process of developement right now. Hydrogen and battery powered cars are only two of the examples. Either one is better than the Conservatives approach to the problem, which is ';pretend the problem isn't there...maybe it will go away';.
Liberls are against Nuclear power. Wind and Solar is a joke, it is clean yes, but it is like trying to power a Las Vegas casino with a AA battery. A medium city would need a solar field the size of arizona to power it. Lets not forget those slly things called clouds...

Liberals only pose problems, no solutions.

And Al Gore has a personal jet... and his Mansion uses more energy then the white house...amazing for a greeny. And lets not forget he has made over $10 million on ';An inconvient truth.'; and ye doesn't donate to green orgs...
Ending our dependence on foreign oil is not a partisan issue. The geopolitical ripples of this dependence affect each of us, our taxes, the value of the dollar, the wars we fight, foreign affairs, our reputation abroad, even the price of food. Since we are all affected, we should all work together to come up with new alternatives. Besides, the new industries would create lots of jobs to replace the three million that have gone overseas in the last eight years.
Yes. It was called CONSERVATION and ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES.

    But you guys thought, ';What the hell...we won't need either...';

And opened up the North Slope in Alaska to drilling for oil.

    Back in the 1970s.

    Today?

History just repeats itself. With smaller oil stockpiles everywhere--you still think that drilling our way out is the *answer*.

    You just never learn.
Yes, they love those solar energy things like the massive one in our John McCain's Arizona, also wind turbines that are popping up. They even want electric cars and hydrogen fuel cells down the line. If we do that the oil industry will get hurt and our GOP will lose a lot of campaign contributions. Doesn't that just fill you with HATE and RAGE for libs!?! They want to take our GOPs oil money just like they were taking away Jim Adkisson's FOOD STAMPS. Those LIBS!!!
Sadly, we don't. Do conservatives have an answer to what to do with nuclear waste or to why oil companies are not utilizing the permits that they currently have to produce more domestic oil? Let me help you out with the answer to the second question. They don't need to when they are reaping record profits selling you and me oil from foreign sources.
The problem with drilling now is that it will give everyone a false sense of security because prices are lower. There are positives to gas prices being high. There are people who are coming up with their own ways of avoiding high gas prices. As a consumer I want to be able to choose what I use to fuel my car. Think of it this way, your pocket book may be hurting now but with gas prices being high it won't be long and other fuels and ways to run our cars will be more easily obtainable.
According to Obama if we inflate our tires and maintain our tuneups on our cars we won't need to drill.

    ';There are things you can do individually, though, to save energy,'; Obama said. ';Making sure your tires are properly inflated – simple thing. But we could save all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling – if everybody was just inflating their tires? And getting regular tune-ups? You'd actually save just as much!';
    Yes.Electric cars.

The Insurance agency, that sweet darling of the Republican right, doesnt want them because car fatalities would go down.

And insurnace revenues would diminish, meaning less donations to the GOP.

Less dead Americans is bad for the GOP in that of but many ways.
yes coal , and instead of wasting money on highways we should build more speed trains like other countries, and have mass transit that would be far better, faster, cheaper, cleaner check out norway on yahoo and look at europes transit system its like a road map

I notices our govt has no problem taking planes everywhere at high prices on our dollars!!!
From the way liberals have stopped nuclear development, oil drilling, wind mills in my back yard they must have some secret magical solution. I figured out what that is now. They just put it off so our children can deal with it and blame it on Republicans.
Yes!!!! Nuclear, wind (stand next to a freeway and feel the breeze), solar (its free) and walking (hopefully we won't be the fattest country on Earth if we did that).

EDIT: To the ';Kiss Me'; person. Why do you work 60 miles from your house?
No I guess they want us to walk everywhere we go.

Of course, while they are railing against Big Oil etc., they are riding around in THEIR cars.

I'd like to see Just some chick ride 60 miles one way to my job. And I live in the nearest town to it.
In the midst of all this hand-wringing over energy we seem to have lost sight of the fact that it is us, the consumer and high life styler with an insatiable appetite for oil, who has gotten us into this mess.
    Vegetable oil = nay

    Solar Panels = nay

    Wind Power = nay

    Hydrogen Energy = nay

Electric (still comes from oil) = nay

Nothing here can compare to oil today.

    It doesn't look too promising.
    Walking, biking, carpooling, hybrids.

Or we could just start drilling offshore and in 10 short years we can have that magical energy source.
yes it is called hot air that can be used in the place of helium just get into the halls of Congress and you will see it start to raise the roof
No,neither do conservatives... Lol if you think drilling here would benefit anybody but the oil companies. To little to late.
renewable energy. you can ';magically'; get more of it, unlike oil, which is a finite source
No but we are smart enough to know that drilling along is really stupid - can be done only as part of a comprehensive plan designed to phase out the need for oil.
Electicity for cars. And I don't fault people for using oil.
Where do I buy one of these ELECTRIC CARS everyone keeps talking about????

Who knew!!! Where are they sold??

    Xiomy: LOL
Cyrstal pyramids. Twirl 'em and feel the power!
Sure. If we can ever convert hot air to a fuel.. the liberals will be golden.
    Energon cubes...
Yup hot air from lying Republicans.
If you can harness the power of stupid people in large groups, then Yes!
i have a bike... wow that was so easy to solve.

  • Oil prices dropped over $4 a barrel today, so why did gas go up 27 cents today?

.....ummm they have us over a barrel.......LMAO!!!! yep that's sic..........

they're screwing us and no reach around either....did ya see the youtube video from a year ago saying prices would be this high..amazing ....it's all been planned.... and that guy pegged even the week and price that it would be.....thanks Bush!!!!!Oil prices dropped over $4 a barrel today, so why did gas go up 27 cents today?
Because it normally takes a couple of weeks before you see a change at the pumps when oil prices change. So you should see a change at the pump in a couple of weeks unless the price for oil goes right back up again. That's the way it's always been. The change isn't immediate.Oil prices dropped over $4 a barrel today, so why did gas go up 27 cents today?
Maybe the light goes on in your head and you realize how we are being used by the big oil companies.

When crude goes up, then gas goes up, but on the way down it is another story.. The realities of life on planet earth.

There is a lag time between the price paid for oil and the time that particular ';batch'; of oil is refined and hits a gas station.
Don't remember the source -- sorry -- but I read a lot, and read that it takes about a week for the per-barrel rises and drops to hit the pump.
Didn't you hear, you got a raise today! So did everyone! Wow! Good question, I looked all afternoon for answers to that question.

What did crude oil close at today?

    search the internet

Got my new clutch yesterday, Got oil leak today!!?

I have a ford focus 02, got new clutch in yesterday from a good garage which i always use. Today i have oil leak, When checking the oil there isn't a drop left in. I phoned garage straight away and they've told me to bring it down in the morning. The bloke didn't seems surprised by it, as if it was something that happens.

I will however fill the oil up again in the morning before i drive it down which is only 5 minutes away.

Any ideas whats happened? just so i have a bit knowledge before i go in cos don't want to be fobbed off if they've done some serious damage.Got my new clutch yesterday, Got oil leak today!!?
If you are talking about the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder fluid, this is brake fluid and NOT OIL.

The clutch parts package includes a clutch cylinder on cars that have it mounted internally/inside the transmission.

If all they replaced was the friction plates and ground down the flywheel then you only got half a package. Not sure if the Ford's have this included but the MOPAR's do.

    Good Luck!!

How long can the world continue using oil at today's rates?

To determine this period of time, you need to know how much oil still remains and how much oil is consumed each year. You may assume that all of the oil produced each year is used during that year.

    1. Add the reserves of each oil-producing country to determine the amount of oil that remains available for use. Keep in mind that this is the amount of oil that can be produced using today's technologies. Enter that value here: ________________________ tonnes. (Note: there are approximately 7.4 barrels of oil per tonne.)

    2. Enter the total world oil production per year: __________________________ tonnes per year.

    3. To determine how many more years the world can continue to use oil at the current rate, divide the amount of reserves by the amount of oil produced each year. Enter that value here: ___ years.

    4. List several ways to increase the amount of time that remains before the world runs out of oil. Consider these ideas as you complete the next section of the Respond sheet. How long can the world continue using oil at today's rates?

BP's Statistical Review of World Energy, published yesterday, appears to show that the world still has enough ';proven'; reserves to provide 40 years of consumption at current rates. The assessment, based on officially reported figures, has once again pushed back the estimate of when the world will run dry

BP's Statistical Review of World Energy, published yesterday, appears to show that the world still has enough ';proven'; reserves to provide 40 years of consumption at current rates. The assessment, based on officially reported figures, has once again pushed back the estimate of when the world will run dry

06 Honda Civic squeaky brakes after oil change today, tech says ';it's normal, nothing he can do'; WTF!?

I have a 2006 Honda Civic which was purchased brand new and has around 26,000 miles. I took it to a honda service center (it's a certified center, the dealership that was previously there relocated but they kept the service center there because of mass amounts of hondas in my area). Anyways I got my oil changed as well as a recall on the brakes (doesn't apply to me, it's cold weather and i'm in florida). Anyways I leave, head to work and my brakes squeak the entire way there. This continues on for the entire day so i call back and he kindly says bring it back we took the tires off for the recall and there may be some dirt. I bring it back and they bring me back to show me. Says that this is a new type of brakes on newer cars since the government switched regulations. anyways he says there is rust which is normal since my wheel is exposed. says the rust is rubbing and making the squeal. goes on to say that this is normal and happens on foreign cars, including mercedes. offers no fix!!06 Honda Civic squeaky brakes after oil change today, tech says ';it's normal, nothing he can do'; WTF!?
Your car is not brand new, you have 26k on it, brakes are not covered under the warranty, brake pads anyways. Why dont you do what they suggest and pay to fix it, or is it you just want a free fix with that many miles?06 Honda Civic squeaky brakes after oil change today, tech says ';it's normal, nothing he can do'; WTF!?
do the brakes only squeal at slow speed like pulling out of your driveway or just as you are coming to a stop sign? if so, it is not unusual and can be coincidental. it is possible to treat for squeal, but is usually a temporary fix. new pads and rotors may even squeal under the right conditions.the technician is referring to the compound of the brake pads since asbestos was outlawed.
If it was brake dust, they could have just blown it off. Rotors cannot rust in the time it takes to change the oil. Somebody screwed up and they're trying to get out from under. Get it fixed by a real brake mechanic, and take them to small claims court. They hate that. Really hate that.
if you wanted to my uncle could fix that in a heart beat but you would have to come up to Denver Colorado to get it fixed properly
rust? what kind of quality car is that?

and if it's related to your brakes its probably not rust..your wheels shouldnt rust that fast..it's probably break powder.

it could be from you breaking over time and time and it just got really worn off over time. You will know for sure thats problem if you start to eventualy hear a grind. and that's really bad, because that means the situation is even worse.

it looks very simular to rust. you probably need a new caliper and everything..and that is really sucky considering its a new car.
Very strange to start squeaking after the oil change and that it never did it before. I would take it to the other Honda shop, they seem to know what they are doing.
take it to the other shop and see if the first one broke/ruined something. then threaten them with a lawsuit if they don't pay for it to get it fixed.
  • how to apply
  • In his ';days of youthful indiscretion';, bush literally couldn't find oil in Texas. Today, he literally can't..

    find oil in Iraq.

Looking back at the past 7 years, it's not too hard to see how bush drove into the ground 3 previous businesses that he was charged with running, is it? No amount of daddy's friends' money is going to bail junior out of the mess he has made this time, will it?In his ';days of youthful indiscretion';, bush literally couldn't find oil in Texas. Today, he literally can't..
Both of the statements you base your question on are simply wrong. You are asking a rhetorical question based on errant information - which makes it very difficult to answer.

My answer is simply get your facts straight before you ask a questionIn his ';days of youthful indiscretion';, bush literally couldn't find oil in Texas. Today, he literally can't..
conveniently, he has bought hundreds of acres of land in Paraguay... which has no extradition treaty. no one needs to bail him out if no one can never get him.

Doesn't Oil Traders of today reminds you of Enron Energy Traders?

It seems like both are using the same tactics to artificially raise oil prices even though market factors don't support such a run up in prices. Just like what Enron did to Energy prices that almost bankrupted California but now this same greed by commodity traders is threatening to bankrupt the U.S.Doesn't Oil Traders of today reminds you of Enron Energy Traders?
yup, and cons have nothing to do with it, i swearDoesn't Oil Traders of today reminds you of Enron Energy Traders?
    Yes.

    Big corp, big corrupt.
the corruption, greed yes...but i think their stocks and profit are real ...
You bet! I don't believe the ';investigations'; going on are sincere. (Dems like to get paid off just like GOPers. I would dearly love to catch these b*stards and see them do the perp walk. (Sigh.)
It is Enron secretly behind it today.. its all the same.. wait and see
