I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?

I would be thinking valve cover gasket before head gasket or rings.

** bobweb, valve cover leaks can go right down the threads and cause oil on the electrodes. It's actually a rather common cause of misfires. **I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?
So now you see the real question: Is the oil on the spark plug electrodes which is inside the cylinder head or is the oil on the white insulator and the part of the spark plug that is outside the cylinder head with the plug wire hooked to it? Two completely different problems.I have a 1996 Plymouth Breeze. I pulled the plugs today and there was oil on them.Head gasket or rings?
Valve cover is loose, that's all. Or, replace the valve cover. Oil seeps down the holes the plugs live in from a leak on the cover gasket. Many times, just tightening it stops the problem.
