Stock market shocker: oil companies and Northrup Grumman UP today - everything else DOWN.?

Is it a surprise that defense contractors and oil companies are doing fantastic with a republican in office? While the rest of the economy is in the toilet.Stock market shocker: oil companies and Northrup Grumman UP today - everything else DOWN.?
';I would say, by any commonsense definition, we are in a recession,';

';the U.S. economy is essentially in a recession even if it hasn't met the technical definition of one yet.';

so what else is new?
so you weren't smart enough to short the market?

Thank your teachers in the union.

Market is way up since 911
Under Bush the Oil, Medical and defense companies make record profits while the stock market as a whole has gone up only 4% in 7+ years. (11723-12224) and the dollar has lost half its value.

What a great Republican economy!
Its a coincidence. If you knew anything about the market you would know that.
I have been for months answering questions here about the oil companies are not driving up oil prices, the declining dollar is. Below is a link to an AP news story posted today that proves my point and explains why:

As for your note about the DOW, it has only increased with the rate of inflation for the last 7 years. There hasn't been any real growth.
nope
interesting because a quick glance shows that GE (a big global warming profiteer) is up today too. yet its snowing in texas.

but thats okay right because you agree with that one
No.

Oh, if only we had heeded the warnings of Eisenhower about the military-industrial complex. Funny, how the last good Republican president of the 20th Century is completely forgotten by the current members of the Republican party, especially the neoconservatives.

As for the oil-companies, I'm sure glad that American tax dollars are being spent on corporate welfare for them while they continue to reap exorbitant and historic profits.

Nothing like a corporate oligarchy disguised as a democracy.
Damn that Bush!

If he would only start selling his OIL and DEFENSE stocks!

Considering my 401(k) has both oil and defense stocks as part of its portfolio... YAY! Maybe I can retire early.
Must be all of that good ole fashion capitalism they're doing over there.
