Oil up $10 a Barrel Today!!! When will Bush / the government take action on this national emergency???

In my previous question, I stated that companies are going bankrupt, the nation just lost another 58,000 jobs because of oil!

We are headed into recession...or worse! And W and the Dems do nothing!!!

Let your voice be heard!

Tell us what you think???

Keep it pithy and no bloviating...thats my job!Oil up $10 a Barrel Today!!! When will Bush / the government take action on this national emergency???
We should have been drilling our own oil/gas, building new refinery's, working on coal gasification, building coal fired power plants, and nuclear power plants decades ago. But our wonderful elected officials have taken so much money from environmental lobbyist, that their hands are tied, and our country is being crippled by their greed.

Talk about looking after the people who elected them and put them in office, right. There should be term limits on Congress and the Senate.

Global warming is a myth. And Al Gore is making millions off this lie.Oil up $10 a Barrel Today!!! When will Bush / the government take action on this national emergency???
The reason price of oil is so high is because the dollar has been devalued compared to other currencies because of a balance of trade deficit.A Euro used to cost one dollar, now it costs 1.5 dollars.Same with the British pound and other currencies. If oil is 125.00 per barrel then in Europe they can buy it for 82.50 dollars after converting their Euros.

All this is a result of our buying more goods manufactured overseas than here in the USA.

There is really no supply and demand problem. If there was you would see lines at gas stations.

The government has made all this possible with NAFTA which encourages buying overseas.

Also the reluctance to drill for oil in Calif and Alaska and the opposition to new nuclear power plants has driven the price of oil up.
';Get Lost...in a good book,'; is right on the money. I'd give her the 10.

Americans have no right to complain since they were the ones who voted rich, greedy, leftists into the Congress. Congress, not the President, makes energy policy by passing laws which have restricted domestic development. Many of these ';eco-friendly'; pandering loonies are themselves heavily invested in off-shore or exempt oil corporations.

A return to a free and competitive market would be the best long-term solution.

Bush pushed for drilling ANWR and tapping domestic supplies, as well as pushing fuel-cell vehicles and alternative energy. Congress shot him down.
Bush can`t do anything because both houses of congress are in control of the democrats. Soon we will have a Democrat President and 8 more years of cant do anything.

We have been trying for 18 years to open a Anwar and all the other oil deposits we have and can not because of the Democrats.

The Democrats want a bad economy it is what they are running on.

Glad you asked
Oil prices are beyond the ability of the government to control at this point. Clinton should not have twice blocked drilling in ANWAR, and the Democrats who came to power in Congress on the promise of lowering fuel costs should have at least made some small attempt to try and keep their promise. It has been more than two years now, and I'm still waiting.
As soon as

A: we are allowed to drill for oil/gas in this country

B: Build refineries

C: Build Nuclear Power Plants

D: Mine Coal

E: Build Coal Power Plants

The price of energy will go down. There is not enough space in the entire US to build enough solar panels to meet our energy demand. I love using all the great amenities that oil has giving me, including leaving lights on, turning down AC, and turning up Heat. I don't give a crap about the environment, cause i think it's all a big fat lie, oh by the way global warming causes global cooling..............huh?
Bush/our government have NO CONTROL over the price of oil. OPEC decides this.

Americans are lucky as far as the price of gas goes. In Europe, they pay at least twice what we do for gas. I was stationed in Germany for a year and saw what they had to pay. Glad to be an American so I could buy gas at the US rate on base.
The Democrats don't have enough votes to get past the Republican filibusters and you know that Bush won't do anything. We just have to suffer a little longer, until January, when the Democrats pick up more seats in the Senate and the House and take the White House.
Actually, it is a world issue. Oil is publicly traded on WORLD markets. Do you really want the US government to intervene in INTERNATIONAL economics? Weren't you against the invasion of Iraq? Isn't this a double standard?
Dumbya doesn't care anything about anyone except himself and those close to him.

And, in discussing the threat posed by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Bush said: ';After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad.';

Well, in all fairness, W had Paulson and Cheney over in the Middle East BEGGING the Saudi's to raise the output of oil so prices can come down. That has been W's energy plan for the last 8 years: Begging the Saudi's.
Bobo say, drill in Alaska, and get serious about alternative fuels.
Nancy Pelosi's working on it.
